Meets at 7.30 pm on the first Wednesday of each month in the Don Pyatt Room of Norwood Town Hall, which is located at the junction of The Parade and George St, Norwood (entrance from George Street).

Visitors are welcome.

February Meeting of Kensington & Norwood Historical Society

On Wednesday 1 February 2012 at 7.30 pm you are invited to a talk to be given to the Society members  and friends by

Richard House

'Bits of Burnside' a fully illustrated presentation introducing a number of interesting features of early Burnside - some large and some small. On the larger side he will talk about some of the stately homes such as Wooton Lea, which is now Seymour College and on the smaller scale such items as bluestone gutters and curbing and how they provide character in village areas such as Magill. He will also be mentioning industries such as the old Coopers Brewery and Bennett's Pottery.

2012 is our 33 rd Anniversary.

The Kensington & Norwood Historical Society has published a book containing a walking trail map and information about the plaques the Society has installed, which celebrate significant people and places in Norwood, Kensington, Kent Town and Marryatville.

The book also includes a selection of your stories about life in this area from past to present.

1 March: Dr Geoffrey Bishop (Vice President of the East Torrens Historical Society). His topic is "Angove Family Winemakers - from Cornwall to McLaren Vale, 1886 to 2011". He has written a book on this subject, which will be available for sale at the talk.
